Danbury, CONN. (January 13, 2024) – Lucie H. Voves, Chair, Union Savings Bank (USB) Board of Trustees, today announced the addition of a new board member.
Anthony Rizzo, Jr., CEO of Danbury-based Rizzo Companies, Inc., has been elected to the USB Board of Trustees. As a USB corporator, he also serves on the Union Savings Bank audit committee, trustee loan committee, trust committee, as well as the ambassador and community liaison.
“Anthony’s exceptional leadership qualities and business acumen make him an excellent addition to our Board,” said Voves. “His forward-thinking vision and dedication to USB customers and to our community are vital to the growth and future of USB.”
Upon graduation from the Henry Abbott Technical School Electrical Program in 1984, Rizzo began working at his family’s business, A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors, Inc. where, over the course of his extensive career, he held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility. In 1992, Rizzo was named President of the company and led the Rizzo organization to new heights. A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors and Rizzo Companies are now among the premier electrical and general contractors in Connecticut. JAR Associates, LLC, a leading property owner and developer in the greater Danbury area, is another testament to the company’s growth. These divisions, now known as The Rizzo Companies, are continually expanding into other areas of the construction field under Rizzo’s leadership.
Rizzo has earned certificates from the Associated General Contractors (AGC) in a variety of construction courses and holds electrical and construction licenses in the State of Connecticut.
He is very active and involved in the community. Rizzo is president of the Rizzo Family Foundation; a member of the Danbury local emergency planning committee; St. Pio Foundation; Nuvance Health philanthropy committee; and current event host and contributor for the Arthritis Foundation. He has been recognized by and received awards from numerous local organizations including a 2024 business award in the medium sized company category from the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce; 2023 “Champion of YES, the Present” from the Arthritis Foundation; 2018 “Good Scout Award” from the Connecticut Yankee Council; and the “St. Pio Award” from the St. Pio Foundation. In 2017 he was entered into the Henry Abbot Technical School Hall of Fame.
Rizzo established the Anthony M. Rizzo Sr. Entrepreneurial Scholarship for the Henry Abbott Tech High School to benefit students and the Ross Martino memorial scholarship to honor his maternal grandfather awarded to students by the Catholic War Veterans. In addition, in 2023, Rizzo and his wife Patty endowed a Rheumatology Chair at Danbury Hospital with the goal of attracting Rheumatologists to the area and expanding clinical research.
Rizzo resides in Bethel, Conn. with Patty, his wife of 37 years.
